Abstract

Geophysical survey (gravity, magnetics) was carried out at the locality Uhlířský vrch at the northwestern contact zone of the Krudum massif in the southern part of the Karlovy Vary granite pluton. The aim of survey was to specify the shape and extent of mafic intrusion with composition of amphibole-biotite diorite to pyroxene-biotite gabbrodiorite. Intrusion crops out at the contact of Late Variscan granites of the Karlovy Vary pluton with its metamorphic envelope formed by metasediments of unknown age. Magnetic measurements specified zones of near-surface occurrence of diorites. Gravity measurements outlined extent of mafic rocks in the depth. Near surface occurrence of diorites is limited within the course of measured geophysical profiles. Gravity measurements indicate only northern and eastern limits of mafic intrusion. Intrusion probably continues like an integral body under granites and crops out again in the Lobezský potok valley, approximately 1 km towards southwest from Uhlířský vrch.
