Abstract

The Czech Republic has a rich tradition in the extraction and processing of natural stone. On the basis of information on similar activities at geological institutions in Europe, a project was set up at Czech Geological Survey in 2003, entitled "Internet database of decorative and building stone". Basic information on rocks on territory of the Czech Republic, employed in the past and present as decorative stone, is included in the database. The Barrandian diabase is one of the interesting building stone, used in the architecture both in Prague and in the Central Bohemia's area
