Abstract

Shallow, continuously cored HV-1 Borehole drilled in Dolní Věstonice Village allowed to study the sediments of the Pouzdřany Unit at the Pavlovské vrchy Hills area. Brown black calcareous claystones with uppermost Eocene-lowermost Oligocene foraminifer fauna (P18-P19 biochron) are assigned to the Pouzdřany Formation. Yellow brown marls with abundant planktonic foraminifera of uppermost Eocene (P17 biochron) are compared with the Sheshory Marls. The studied section is tentatively interpreted as mutually shuffled tectonic slices of the Ždánice and Pouzdřany units.
