Heavy metals load of soils around the leaded glass factory (plant) in Světlá upon Sázava
Abstract
Environmental-geochemical mapping of heavy metals has revealed that soils in the studied area are to various degree affected by industrial pollution from the glass factory in Světlá upon Sázava. Contents of Cu reach up to 69 ppm (median 29), Zn up to 326 ppm (93) and Pb up to 995 ppm (50) in the upper soil horizon. Sequential extraction procedure shows that part of the Pb is bound in reducible fraction while Zn and Cu are mostly bound to the residual fraction. Lead izotopic composition indicates an anthropogenic lead input into the upper soil horizon. Amount of metals available to plants metabolism expressed in percent of total metal in soils is increasing in sequence: Zn (3.76 %) ^ Cu (11.88 %) ^ Pb (16.20 %). The amount of available lead is very high in samples rich in organic matter.
