Abstract

The article presented is an essay on possible coincidence between fast lithologic changes in alm deposition and changes in the molluscan assemblages. It has been found out that a complex lithology has no response in the fauna, which shows virtually no changes. On the other hand, there is clear evidence of a gently upward arching palustrine alm deposit at the slope base and the upper edge of a valley fill having mostly terrestrial rather than aqueous molluscs as is the case with fluvial tufa deposits. The age of the deposit (like in many other similar localities) is Late Glacial to Lower Holocene.
