Succession of fossil associations in the Třenice Formation (Tremadocian, Ordovician) at Holoubkov (Prague Basin)
Abstract
Several different fossil associations have been recognized in the Třenice Formation (Tremadocian) at the Holoubkov locality. Their superposition is inferred from lithology and comparison with other localities. The oldest monospecific association contains large pebbles encrusted by Marcusodictyon. The next association is characterized by Poramborthis grimmi, Protambonites, Eoorthis, rare lingulate brachiopods, Echinosphaerites and Glyptosphaerites and yielded the oldest trilobite finding in the Prague Basin. The trilobite specimen is shortly described and discussed. The younger association is represented by abundant micromorphous lingulate brachiopods, Poramborhis cf. grimmi, Jivinella, Paleosphaeronites and diverse trilobites. Shales with lingulate brachiopods and Berenicea vetera represent the youngest fauna at the locality; it belongs to the lower Klabava Formation (upper Tremadocian or Floian).
