Abstract

A sample of strongly peraluminous graphitic paragneiss from borehole Mírovka was chosen from several cm thin layer rimmed by quartzite. This paragneiss seems to contain more graphite (> 10 %) than graphitic paragneisses in a thick formation which form lower part of the borehole. The rock is poor in Ca, Sr, Na and P and has high contents of S and As, which are contained mainly in metamorphic pyrite, arsenopyrite and lollingite. Older ilmenite is replaced mainly by rutile, pyrite and quartz. Abundances of transition metals are elevated too but with the exception of Mn they are not significantly higher than in cordierite paragneisses from the area.
