Abstract

The method of microanalyses of volcanic glasses in pumices and scorias was used to study chemical compositions and magma mingling processes in the La Union volcanic sequence (El Salvador). The scorias and pumices were sampled in mixed fall out deposits of La Union volcanic sequence in occasionally operating quarry. These volcanic glasses were, due to high degree of vesiculation, analyzed under higher current (3,3-3,5 nA). Due to degasation of magma during its uplift, volcanic glasses are primarily dry. Water content of analyzed glasses was in agreement with this fact and low content of volatiles is of the secondary origin.
